Computer Classes for Kids and Young Adults

Introduction to Coding
In this multi-session class, we learn the basics of computer language, code structure, and implementation.
Prerequisites: comfort with computers and keyboarding.
For intermediate and advanced computer users.

Creating iOS Apps
In this multi-session class, we will learn the basics of creating and using apps for the Mac, iPad and iPhone. Prerequisites: comfort with your Mac computer. Note: There is an additional fee for Mac classes.

Introduction to GarageBand
GarageBand is a whole music creation studio right inside your Mac. In this hands-on class, you will learn how to play, record, and create music using the program’s included software instruments, presets for guitar and voice, and virtual drums. Note: There is an additional fee for Mac classes.

Introduction to the Mac - iMovie
In this two session workshop, you will learn how to use iMovie on your Mac computer for recording, editing, adding sound clips and effects and more. Prerequisites: comfort with your Mac computer. Note: There is an additional fee for Mac classes.

Computer Animation
Learn how to use your computer to create web-based computer animation. Create and edit animated GIFs, stick figures and much more. Completion of Introduction to the Computer or have equivalent knowledge.

Introduction to Web Design with WordPress
Learn the workings of Web sites and how to make your own Web pages. Layout text, add images and link to your favorite sites, even let your visitors email you. Work at home on the website you start in class. Prerequisites: Completion of Introduction to the Computer or have equivalent knowledge. Note: A strong wifi signal in the conference room is mandatory.

Introduction to Dreamweaver
Create your own website and share your information, thoughts, opinions and photos with the whole world. In this class, you will be introduced to the workings of Web sites and how to make your own Web pages. Layout text, add images and link to your favorite sites, even let your visitors email you. For intermediate and advanced computer users.

Intermediate Dreamweaver
In this follow class, you will learn more about website creation, the workings of web pages, text and graphics layouts, links, and more.

Adobe Photoshop
Become an instant graphic artist by working with images and pictures in Adobe Photoshop. Learn how to alter images including sizing, shaping and coloring. Re-touch, filter and add effects to create works of art or just make your digital photos look the way you want them to. Prerequisites: Completion of Introduction to the Computer or have equivalent knowledge.

Making a Music Video
In this hands on class, we will take pictures, graphics and music and create a music video. Timelines, effects, transitions and more will be addressed. Bring a USB drive with your favorite song and pictures.
Prerequisite: Completion of Introduction to the Computer and or have equivalent knowledge.

Introduction to the Computer
This class is for first-time computer users. Using Windows computers, this class covers the basics needed to get started using a computer.

Microsoft PowerPoint
Learn to create exciting presentations. Work with animation and video as you learn the basics of creating a slideshow including editing, formatting, adding multimedia objects and animation effects and much more. PowerPoint is used extensively in junior, middle and high school. Beginning and intermediate classes are available.

Microsoft Word
Learn the basics of word processing including creating a document, saving, editing, formatting and much more. Microsoft Word is used extensively in schools for homework, papers, reports, and more. Beginning, intermediate and advanced classes are available.

Desktop Publishing
In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to use your word processing program, Microsoft Word, to create greeting cards, letterhead paper, transfer designs, newsletters, notepaper and much more.

Create Photo Greeting Cards
In this hands-on class, learn how to copy a photo from your digital camera to your computer, edit the photo using an image editing program, and create a greeting card using your photo, specialty fonts, graphics, word art and more. Bring a USB drive.

Post Your Pictures Online
Share your pictures online with your family and friends! In this hands-on class, learn how to copy a photo from your digital camera to your computer, edit the photo using an image editing program, post it on an online picture site such as Flickr or Shutterfly, and send invitations to view your pictures. Note: A strong wifi signal in the conference room is mandatory.
