We have classes in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Publisher, for beginners to advanced users. Please scroll down for class descriptions.

 

Introduction to Microsoft Word
Learn the basics of word processing including creating a document, saving, editing, formatting and much more.  Prerequisites:  Computer Kindergarten and Computer 1st Grade or equivalent.

Intermediate Microsoft Word
Learn more about the world’s most popular word processing program, including formatting, columns and tables and much more.  Prerequisites:  Computer Kindergarten, Computer 1st Grade and Introduction to Microsoft Word or equivalent.

Advanced Microsoft Word
Using Microsoft Word, the world’s most popular word processing program, learn advanced word processing features including Mail Merge, Autotext, AutoCorrect and more.  Prerequisites:  Computer Kindergarten, Computer 1st Grade, Introduction to Microsoft Word, Intermediate Word.

Microsoft Word – Mail Merge
Learn how to use Microsoft Word’s powerful Mail Merge feature to easily create and send out large or small mailings. Prerequisites:  Computer Kindergarten for Grown-ups, Computer 1st Grade for Grown-ups, Introduction to Microsoft Word, Intermediate Word. For intermediate and advanced computer users.

Computers for Home Use 1
Learn how to write a letter, create a newsletter and make a flyer or sign. Learn how to edit and format text, lay out a letter, work with graphics and much more.

Desktop Publishing Using Word
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to use your word processing program, Microsoft Word, to create greeting cards, letterhead paper, transfer designs, newsletters, notepaper and much more.  Some of the many topics covered are graphics, textboxes, WordArt, fonts and much more. Prerequisites:  Computer Kindergarten, Computer 1st Grade and Introduction to Microsoft Word or equivalent.

Create Photo Greeting Cards Using Word
In this hands-on and demonstration class, learn how to copy a photo from your digital camera to your computer, edit the photo using an image editing program, create a greeting card using your photo, specialty fonts, graphics, word art and more.  You will also learn how to create an account with an online card store and order Holiday Cards online.  Prerequisites:  For intermediate computer users.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel
Learn the basics of the world’s most popular spreadsheet program, including creating, editing and formatting worksheets, formulas, and much more.  Prerequisites:  Computer Kindergarten and Computer 1st Grade or equivalent.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel
Learn more about the world’s most popular spreadsheet program, including functions, working with ranges, macros, charting and much more. Prerequisites: Computer Kindergarten, Computer 1st Grade and Introduction to Microsoft Excel or equivalent.

Advanced Microsoft Excel
Using Microsoft Excel, the world’s most popular spreadsheet program, learn advanced features including vLookup, data validation and much more. Prerequisites: Computer Kindergarten and 1st Grade, Introduction and Intermediate Excel.

Using Excel for Teachers
A spreadsheet program can be an invaluable tool for calculating and analyzing grades. In this workshop, you will learn how to use Microsoft Excel to set up a grade book, use formulas to calculate grades, charts and graphs for quickly displaying trends in grades, and much more. Prerequisites: Computer Kindergarten For Grown-ups, Computer 1st Grade for Grown-ups, Computer 2nd Grade for Grownups, Introduction to Microsoft Excel.

Excel for Home Use
Use your computer to help manage your personal finances: learn how to create a check register and format for a bank reconciliation, keep track of investments and expenses and create a simple database. Prerequisites: Computer Kindergarten, Computer 1st Grade.

Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint
Learn to create exciting computerized presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint, a program that can be used as an aid in giving speeches and presentations. Work with computer animation and video as you learn the basics of creating a slideshow including creating, saving, editing, formatting, adding multimedia objects and animation effects and much more.  Prerequisites: Computer Kindergarten and Computer 1st Grade or equivalent.

Intermediate Microsoft PowerPoint
Learn intermediate techniques in slide animation and graphics, transitions, formatting and much more.  Prerequisites: Computer Kindergarten, Computer 1st Grade, and Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint or equivalent.

Introduction to Microsoft Access
Learn the basics of database design and management including planning and defining a database, understanding fields, records, tables and queries, and much more.  Prerequisites: Computer experience required.  For intermediate and advanced computer users.

Intermediate Microsoft Access
Learn more about the popular database program, Microsoft Access. Topics include working with tables, forms, queries, filters and searches. Prerequisites: Introduction to Microsoft Access. For intermediate and advanced computer users. 

Advanced Microsoft Access

Learn more advanced features of Access. Class includes working with forms, complex queries, and report design and more.   Prerequisites:  Introduction & Intermediate Microsoft Access.  For advanced computer users.

Introduction to Microsoft Publisher
Learn desktop publishing concepts using Microsoft Publisher.  Learn how to create professional looking documents such as flyers, newsletters and brochures. Topics covered will include layout, formatting and much more. Prerequisites: For intermediate computer users. 

Intermediate Publisher
Learn how to use rulers, guidelines and special features. Work with frames, effects, styles, and much more. Prerequisites: Introduction to Microsoft Publisher. For intermediate computer users.

Advanced Publisher
Learn more about the special features of Microsoft Publisher. Prerequisites: Introduction to Microsoft Publisher and Intermediate Publisher. For intermediate and advanced computer users.

From the most commonly asked questions we receive in class and by email, we’ve compiled three new classes: Word - Setting Margins, Using Tabs and Indents, Columns, Autocorrect, Keyboard Shortcuts, Adding to the Dictionary, and more. Excel - Quick Select, Autofill, Sorting, Zoom Percentage, Using Functions and more. PowerPoint - Printing Handouts and Notes, Navigating during the Presentation, Adding Annotations, Quick Select, and more. Prerequisite: general knowledge of the programs.
