The Basics

Introduction to Computers
Designed specifically for first-time computer users, basic computer skills are presented in a simplified, non-threatening manner that will make even the most apprehensive person comfortable using a computer. 

Computers in Business Communication
Use your computer to write business letters, memos, create newsletters and make flyers and signs.  Text editing, graphics, formatting and layouts will be addressed.

File Management
Understand the Windows file management structure including drives, folders, files, external devices, organization and more.

Customize Your Computer
Make the computer work for you.  Learn how to customize your computer so that it works most efficiently for the way you work. 

How to Buy Computer Equipment
Whether you are searching for a job or just or learning new skills to keep up-to-date in your current one, you need computer equipment that will keep up with your needs.  In this class, you will learn how to get the best and the most for your money.

Setting Up Your New Computer
In this hands-on class, you will learn how to set up your new computer to enhance your work environment.  Learn how to create icons and folders on the desktop, use display properties, put files where you need them, understand drives, folder and files, set up and install new programs, remove programs you do not want, use Windows Help, and much more.  Prerequisites:  Computer Kindergarten for Grownups and Computer 1st Grade for Grownups or equivalent.

Intensive Business Skills Workshops

Workshops are conducted Monday through Friday (5 days); morning or afternoon.

Introduction/Intermediate:  Microsoft Office, Email and the Internet in the workforce.

Intermediate/Advanced: Advanced skills in Office, File Management and Windows.

Returning to the Workforce: This multi-session seminar provides computer skills for those who have been out of the job market for a number of years.  Learn how to get started, an introduction to word processing and spreadsheets, email and more.

Finding a Job

Online Job Search and Resume Writing
Learn how to use the Internet to find that perfect job!  In this lecture and demo workshop, you will learn how to develop and create a powerful resume, find and use online job search websites, and formulate a job search process that will work for you.  Prerequisites:  Completion of All About the Internet or equivalent knowledge.  Internet access and an email address. 

Create, Format & Email Your Resume
We bring the computers!  In this hands-on class, you will learn how to use your computer to create, style, format and email a powerful resume.  Prerequisites:  Completion of Computer Kindergarten® for Grownups™, Computer 1st Grade for Grownups™ and All About the Internet or equivalent knowledge.  Internet access and an email address. 

Job Search and Interviewing Techniques
Formulate a job search process that will work for you including responding to ads, forms of communication, pre-interview research, appearance, responding to difficult questions, follow up and more.

 

Microsoft Office
